CDFS is an independent Government Foundation established by the Ministry of Regional Development and financed by the Inter- American Development Bank (IDB), the Agence Française de Developpement and the Government of Suriname (GOS).

The main objective of CDFS is to contribute to improving the living conditions and social well being of the poorest communities of Suriname through the financing of small scale community development projects.

CDFS is a Social Investment Fund that is established to support the initiatives of poor communities to improve their living conditions and social well being. CDFS has a national range, aimed at the poorest communities in urban en rural areas at the interior.
